Thank you United Way Central and South Okanagan Similkameen! Approving our grant application has given Starbright the simply best news! We will now be able to provide childminding for our families who are taking part in the groups that our Centre offers! This means so much for parents to be able to attend together or even attend at all! Thank you for all you do to support us!
The A.C.T./UCT Kelowna West #1003 have made a SO-welcome donation to our Starbright Autism Program! A heart-felt thank you Rick Warner (Treasurer and Past-President), John Grant (Vice-President and Director), and Dick Melrose (Director) for presenting a cheque to Karina Frisque (Autism Program Team Leader) and Rhonda Nelson (Executive Director of Starbright). We are so happy this amazing program is being supported!!
A special thank you to the Kelowna Firefighters who donated the funds for Starbright to purchase UPSEE mobility devices for use by the physiotherapy department! These wonderful devices allow a child who has movement challenges to stand and move with the help of an adult. For a little preschooler who has never been able to stand upright or take a walk with mom or dad, the UPSEE makes it happen! THANK YOU FIREFIGHTERS!
Thank you Gary Parmar for your wonderful donation that will enable Starbright Children’s Development Centre to do more therapeutic gymnastics classes in the new year! You have made it possible to extend therapy sessions to so many more children!
Wednesday, December 6, was a special occasion for the staff of Starbright Children’s Development Centre. At their Christmas luncheon, Mohini Singh, representing the Board of Directors of the Foundation East Meets West, made an announcement of a donation that is going to make a huge difference. Having being made aware of the need for a therapeutic table to assist Starbright physiotherapists in providing treatment for babies with plagiocephaly and/or torticollis, East Meets West provided the needed funds for the purchase. The announcement was met with loud cheers from all staff present, and Mohini Singh received a standing ovation.
From all of us at Starbright, a huge thanks to the Telus Ambassadors for the 100 hand-knitted or crocheted hats for our little clients! These generous Telus retirees spent the last year making not only the bright-coloured hats as gifts, but also many pairs of mittens, some scarves, and several lap blankets. These gifts are such a help for the babies and toddlers as well as older children. What an extraordinary donation! It is a delight to have our little clients sporting new gear! Thank you Telus Ambassadors! You have such big hearts!
A HUGE thank you to the RONA Social Committee for their generous donation! Their funds will be directed to Starbright’s Autism Program! Pictured, from left to right are: Rhonda Nelson (Executive Director), Bianca Venenciano (RONA Social Committee), Nickao Venenciano (with mom, Bianca), and Heather Maschek (Autism Program Consultant).
TD Canada Trust Dilworth Branch and the TD Group donated the monies that will allow us to offer a group session of gymnastics for our little clients with mobility issues. The physiotherapists in our Centre will recommend these little people participate based on their physical therapeutic goals! We are so thrilled!
A huge thank you to the Central Okanagan Foundation for the $15,000 community grant that enabled us to replace our aging server! It was significantly over its extended warranty and we were in constant worry that it would simply expire. Having a smooth transition to a new one while the old one was still functional, meant the world to us! Our clinicians, therapists, consultants, and Program Support staff were able to focus on services to children without any down time!
Thank you to Shawn Talbot of Shawn Talbot Photography for the continued support of our organization through the donation of your photography services. You truly do amazing work and we are all very fortunate to be able to showcase Starbright and its people through your amazing images.
Thank You To Curious Restaurant!
Thank you so much to the folks at the new Curious Restaurant in Kelowna. Their chefs, being trained by chefs from California, decided to ‘test’ out their pizza making skills by treating us all to a pizza lunch! Thank you to Sarah Dhooge and her husband Wade for organizing such a wonderful surprise!
